美国游戏发行商 ATLUS 日前正式公布了这款以老牌经典射击游戏《R-TYPE》（异形战机）改编的PSP平台战略模拟游戏《异形战机 策略版》（R-Type Command）将在2008年5月份在北美地区发售的消息，目前本作的北美官网已正式开通，并放出了多张游戏的最新画面，供玩家参考。

《异形战机》（R-TYPE）是由日本游戏开发厂商IREM于1987年推出的大型电玩横向滚动条射击游戏，以无敌辅助武装Force、积蓄能量波动炮、融合有机与机械的敌人、巨大的头目角色等特色，广受射击游戏爱好者欢迎，后续还制作推出多款系列作，亦曾大量移植到各家用主机平台上推出。在《异形战机》正统系列作于2003年推出的PS2《异形战机 Final》正式宣告完结后，本次北美ATLUS公司宣布，将推出以此系列为题材的PSP平台战略模拟游戏新作《异形战机 策略版》。《异形战机 策略版》采用原作的设定，故事叙述26世纪的人类开发出来的行星级星系内生态系破坏兵器失去控制而反扑，束手无策的人类只好使用次元消除兵器将之传送到异次元层来彻底消除，但是这些异形生物却彻底侵蚀了异次元层，并持续进化，最后出现在22世纪的时空中……
